Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and Visitor Information National Park's website Pembrokeshire Greenways Comprehensive walking, cycling and public transport information for Pembrokeshire Bus Timetables from Richards Bros. Coaches local bus operator's website |
Geographically one of the most remote of Britain's National Park, most visitors agree it is well worth the effort of getting there, with stunning coastline views, and the popular Pembrokeshire Coastal Footpath, now a National Trail. Most of the coast is easily accessed by the West Wales railway line from Swansea and Carmarthen to Pembroke (via Tenby) and Milford Haven. The coastal railway is supplemented by a reasonably good bus service, giving good access to the southern eastern corner of the Park, but west of Pembroke services are sparse. The northern section of the park enjoys good access between Haverfordwest and St David's (service 411); between St Davids and Fishguard services are two hourly and don't exist on Sundays. With careful planning there are some quite useful inland bus services that can be used, and a high profile Greenways project undertaken by the South Pembrokeshire Action for Rural Communities Project (SPARC) has developed an excellent Greenways sustainable tourism network using local bus and train services to access walking and cycling routes into the hinterland around Narberth, and the Cleddau. |

In summer, the Pembrokeshire Coast is served by a network of hail and ride services, known as the Poppit Rocket, the Puffin Shuttle and the Strumble Shuttle, and running along the coast between Newport, Fishguard and St Davis (Strumble, service 404), Cardigan and Fishguard (Poppit, service 405) and St Davids, Martin's Haven and Milford Haven (Puffin, service 400 ). They are running daily from April to September, operating 3 buses each way on each of these services. The Celtic Coaster service runs hourly April till September between St Davids and St Justinian (ferries to Ramsey Island), Whitesands and Porth Clais. See Pembrokeshire Greenways Coastal Bus Services for more details. In winter The Poppit Rocket, Strumble Shuttle, Puffin Shuttle and Coastal Cruiser run to a winter timetable, 3-days a week, from 3rd October - 28th April 2006. See Pembrokeshire Greenways Coastal Bus Services for more details.
