Getting around Perthshire and the surrounding area by public transport has never been easier. VisitScotland Perthshire and the Public Transport Unit at Perth & Kinross Council have once again teamed up to produce a popular series of eight leaflets packed with exciting ideas for days out using the bus or train.
Designed to appeal to both locals and visitors, the leaflets cover day trip options from Aberfeldy, Auchterarder, Blairgowrie, Crieff, Dunkeld, Kinross, Perth, and Pitlochry. Timetable information is presented clearly within each leaflet and there are also details of special money saving offers especially for public transport users. Passengers simply have to present the leaflet and their current travel ticket to take advantage of reduced admission charges at selected visitor attractions or enjoy a reduction on their lunch bill at participating hotels.
"Perthshire has an excellent public transport network and many routes travel through incredibly scenic countryside" commented Fiona Meikle at VisitScotland Perthshire.
"We hope that this initiative will encourage people to leave their cars behind and experience a real sense of freedom in travelling light. Days out by bus or train make a lot of sense: it's often cheaper than using the car, allows the driver to see the scenery and avoids all the hassle of parking. Visitors also have the added benefit of getting a deeper insight into our area".
The Great Days Out leaflets are valid until the end of October and are available at any Perthshire Tourist Information Centre or by calling 01738 450600. Leaflets are also available from Perth and Kinross Council Public Transport Unit Tel: 0845 3011130.
