Discovering the Valleys of Neath and Port Talbot

  SCWD YR EIRA FALLS YSTRADFELLTE

WATERFALL COUNTRY - VALE OF NEATH

There is superb walking throughout the Vale of Neath including fine upland tracks along St Illtyd's Walk over the steep wooded hillsides and ridges over into the neighbouring Afan or Dulais Valleys. But for a real highlight, take Bus X5/X75 to the top of the valley, from where you can walk into the Brecon Beacons National Park from Glynneath along the riverside to Pontneddfechan, (on Sundays the bus continues as far as Dinas Rock (Min-yr-Awel terminus) from where keen ramblers can walk through dense woodland to the superb series of waterfalls and deep gorges in the spectacular Mellte, Hepste and Nedd Fechan valleys. Take the Waterfall Walks in Neath Port Talbot booklet with you for detailed direction (available at Tourist Information Centres or ring 01639 636674 for details of availability). Ordnance Survey Explorer Outdoor Leisure Map 12 is also highly recommended for detailed path finding in this lovely corner of the National Park.

X5/X75 from Swansea and Neath to Glyn Neath (Pontneddfechan on Sundays only).
